Weight Loss Support & Obesity Nutrition Counseling
Weight Loss is Hard
If you've struggled to lose weight, you are not alone. While weight loss may seem straightforward on the surface, it is often much more complicated than simply eating less and moving more. It can be overwhelming to sort through conflicting nutrition advice, keep up with meal planning, find time to exercise, and stay motivated when progress feels slow.
Luckily, you do not have to do it alone. Our dietitians work with you to develop a realistic plan that fits your lifestyle and supports your long-term health.
How a Weight Loss Dietitian Can Help
Your dietitian will do a full nutrition assessment and then provide you the knowledge, tools, and accountability to help you meet your goals. We help people with overweight and obesity develop sustainable nutrition habits that support their weight and overall health.
You will get help sorting through the nutrition facts and fiction, figuring out your macros and overall nutritional needs, and navigating those tricky situations like eating out, holiday and social events.
Research shows that meeting with a dietitian for weight management can help improve weight, body mass index (BMI), systolic blood pressure, and quality of life.¹˒²
Supporting You No Matter What You Decide
At AMS Nutrition Counseling, we provide evidence-based nutrition recommendations for overweight and obesity, not specific fads. There is no one diet that works for weight loss.²
We do not require you to buy any specific foods or supplements. While we will guide you through diet recommendations, we can also support you if you decide to have bariatric surgery or take a weight medication such as a GLP-1.
Why a Registered Dietitian?
There are many places to seek weight loss advice, but not all providers have the same education, training, or approach. Here is how working with a registered dietitian differs from other options.
Weight Loss Clinic vs. Weight Management Dietitian
At AMS Nutrition Counseling, we do not prescribe any supplements or weight loss medications, such as GLP-1s. Instead, our weight loss dietitians guide you through diet and exercise strategies that can help you achieve and maintain weight loss.
Diet Center vs. Weight Management Dietitian
Diet Centers generally require a membership fee and then sell you supplements and prepacked foods. These diet centers generally end up costing several hundred dollars a month with the cost of everything.
At AMS Nutrition Counseling, we do not sell anything. We meet you in-person or via telehealth, generally through your health insurance plan. More than 97% of our patients pay $0!
Weight Loss Coach vs. Weight Management Dietitian
Weight loss coaches can vary significantly in knowledge and experience. Registered Dietitian Nutritionists, on the other hand, are regulated healthcare professionals. Dietitians have to meet academic and professional requirements, including a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in dietetics, completion of a supervised practice program, passing a national exam and completing continuing education credits to maintain registration.
We Take Care of Your Whole Nutritional Health
Most of our patients have additional health goals in addition to weight loss. We can help you manage your other conditions such as diabetes, high cholesterol, or IBS alongside your weight loss journey. We are here to help YOU, not just your weight.
